Qualified in 1978 at Birmingham University. Awarded MFGDP (UK) in 1993 and the Royal College of Surgeons' Diploma in Implant Dentistry in 2007. Finally becoming a Fellow of the Faculty of General Dental Practice FFGDP(UK) in 2011.

Interested in all aspects of restorative dentistry particularly restorations involving implants. Has over 25 years experience placing and restoring implants.

He runs a local study club for other colleagues interested in implant dentistry and is a mentor on the Straumann mentoring scheme for dentists starting out in implant dentistry.

Married to Sue, sons Nick and Tom and daughter Alex. In 2015 he became a proud grandfather. To his family's dismay, he is the eternal student and working towards his MSc. Richard is a fanatical skier, average squash player, one time angler and disastrous golfer.
